A city of east-central China east-northeast of Xi'an. A cultural and industrial center, it was the capital of several ancient dynasties, including the Han and Tang. Population, 624,000.

Luoyang Ancient Tomb Museum is in the village of Zhongtou in Luoyang. This museum is the first of its kind in China and has 22 restored ancient tombs dating from the Han dynasty (206-220BC) to the Northern Song dynasty (960-1127AD). Many colorful murals have been restored and pottery pieces and other relics extracted from the tombs are also on display.

It contains collections of relics and art found in the region. There is an interesting selection of early bronzes, Tang figurines and gold, silver and jade artifacts.
